Jacob Lawrence Mural Dedication & Reception

Join us to dedicate Atlantic City's mural honoring Jacob Lawrence, "In Memory Of...", located at Atlantic Cape Community College. Following the dedication we'll gather in the cafeteria for a brief reception with light refreshments.

The 3-panel mural is by Kenneth Lazan Faulk, Jr., John Morris, and Chanelle René and was completed with the participation of young artists from the Leaders in Training program.

Artist Jacob Lawrence was born on September 7, 1917, in Atlantic City's Ward 3, where the Save-A-Lot now stands. He was hailed as a master storyteller, creating a body of work that comprehensively spoke about the African American experience.

Special thanks to Valeria Marcus for conceiving of and researching this project. Thank you to our site partner Atlantic Cape Community College, and our funders NJSCA, Midtown CDC, Thriv, ThriveAC Fund, and Stockton University.
